Duration and learning Methods
After providing evidence and completing the competency interview, the classroom duration is 1-2 days

Entry Requirements

RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TC1) 

• For TC1 the entry requirement is that an individual wishing to enrol in this skill set must hold the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry.

RIISS00059 Traffic Controller Skill Set for High Volume Roads (TC2)

• For TC2 the entry requirements is the completion of RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and at least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role.

RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TMI1)

• For TMI1 the entry requirement is for individuals to hold the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads (TMI2)

• For TMI2 the entry requirement is:
  • Completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
  • At least one month experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
  • Providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types including high-speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
    • Pedestrian and cyclist controls
    • Construction sites
    • Shoulder closures
    • Night works
    • Use of portable traffic control devices
    • Motorways or freeways

RIISS00062 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Motorways and Freeways (TMI3)

• For TMI3 the entry requirement is:
  • Completion of the RIISS0060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
  • At least three months experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
  • Providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types including high-speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
    • Pedestrian and cyclist controls
    • Construction sites
    • Lane closures
    • Shoulder closures
    • Night works
    • Use of portable traffic control devices

The RPL Process

Step 1- Get in Touch 
Call us on (03) 9341 3444 or fill out the below enquiry form. The CFMEU Education and Training staff will proceed to discuss your traffic background.

Step 2- Complete the RPL Kit 
Please see links below to download and fill out the kits with all required details. Once completed, it is required to be scanned back to relevant CFMEU staff.

Please note, you must supply evidence that correlates to entry requirements.

Step 3- Admin Review
Our team will check that your documents are filled out correctly and complete.

Step 4- Trainer Interview 
After completing your written assessments, you'll take part in a conversation with your traffic assessor. During this discussion, you'll be asked a series of questions to help confirm your knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experience outlined in your RPL submission.

Step 5 - Gap Training (if needed) 
If needed, we'll organise an additional day to cover any skill gaps, which may include practical tasks like risk assessments, traffic guidance setup, or using portable traffic signals. This ensures you meet all industry standards through a supportive and streamlined process.

Step 6- Get Your Qualification 
Once all steps are complete and assessed, you'll receive your Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
