Spotters

22597VIC - Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets

To comply with the No Go Zone requirements a Spotter must be used when working inside specified clearances near overhead power lines. A Spotter is required for each item of plant or equipment operating in the vicinity of overhead electrical lines on any work site.

A trained Dogger / Rigger may act as a spotter for any type of plant (without holding a ticket or demonstrate competence and experience for that item of plant, subject to requirements listed in the General Compliance for Spotters 2022.

For all other plant and equipment, a person must hold a Certificate of competency or WorkSafe ticket for the item of plant that person will be spotting for.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

Energy Safe Victoria has set minimum age for a person to be registered as a Spotter with Energy Safe Victoria to be 18 years of age as this aligns high-risk licence requirements.

What to bring to class?

White Card – (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)

Current HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

Current HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Photo ID – Current WorkSafe High Risk Licence in (Relevant Plant)

Any plant ticket for the category plant machinery that you will be spotting for.

PPE – Hard hat, safety footwear and safety vest
