22597VIC - Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets
To comply with the No Go Zone requirements, a Spotter must be used when working inside specified clearances near overhead power lines. A Spotter is required for each item of plant or equipment operating in the vicinity of overhead electrical lines on any work site. 
A trained Dogger / Rigger may act as a Spotter for any type of plant (without holding a ticket or demonstrate competence and experience for that item of plant, subject to requirements listed in the General Compliance for Spotters 2022.
For all other plant and equipment, a person must hold a Certificate of Competency or WorkSafe ticket for the item of plant that person will be spotting for.

Energy Safe Victoria has set the minimum age for a person to be registered as a Spotter with Energy Safe Victoria to be 18 years of age, as this aligns with high-risk licence requirements.
If you need to cancel your enrolment prior to the course commencing, we require at least 48 hours' notice.
If you cancel more than three enrolments within a calendar year, you will be required to contact us by phone to enrol in future courses. CFMEU Education and Training also reserves the right to apply fees for future enrolments.

Training
Training delivered by the CFMEU Education and Training consists of a combination of face-to-face classroom delivery and self-paced learning.
This includes participation in scheduled training sessions as well as independent study, research, and reading to support knowledge and skill development.
Assessment
Assessment consists of a comprehensive assessment process, including a Written Knowledge Assessment to evaluate theoretical understanding, a Practical Demonstration (Performance Assessment) to assess hands-on skills in real or simulated environments.

Who should attend?
A Spotters licence is required by anyone who is involved in safely guiding and assisting machine operators or working closely with overhead and underground service assets. If you’ve experienced operating trucks, excavators, forklifts, and other machinery, you may wish to advance your skills and become a workplace spotter.
Construction spotting is essential for ensuring that machine operators are performing the task correctly and safely. They overlook safety operations as a whole and uphold high levels of safety to prevent incidents and accidents.
What will you learn?
Our Spotters training provides participants with the skills and knowledge to:
- provide a first aid response to a casualty in a workplace setting
- identify and address hazards associated with plant operating close to overhead and underground assets
- undertake prestart activities and safety checks
- communicate approach limit information to plant operators
- facilitate emergency procedures and activities
- identify the operational envelope of plant/machinery
The program involves a combination of practical and theory-based learning in a face-to-face environment.
Is a Spotters licence mandatory?
Under WorkSafe requirements, a person performing any spotting work is required to hold a spotting licence.
The 22597VIC – Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets course is nationally accredited training accepted all across Australia.
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued upon successful completion.
