CPCCCM3001- Operate Elevated Work Platforms (Up to 11 Metres)
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to operate specific types of elevated work platforms (EWPs) safely and effectively in different locations, including on uneven terrain. The unit includes locating, setting up, operating and shutting down scissor lifts and self-propelled boom lifts with a boom length under 11 metres.
The unit supports construction workers in the safe and effective operation of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical EWPs.
The unit does not cover truck-mounted EWPs, powered telescoping devices, hinged devices or articulated devices, or any combination of these used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work and which has a boom length of 11 metres or more.
Please note this is not a high risk work licence. If your occupation requires you to operate a boom-type EWP with a nominal reach over 11 metres, please enrol in TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more).

If you need to cancel your enrolment prior to the course commencing, we require at least 48 hours' notice.
If you cancel more than three enrolments within a calendar year, you will be required to contact us by phone to enrol in future courses. CFMEU Education and Training also reserves the right to apply fees for future enrolments.

- CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
- A current Work Safely at Heights ticket (RIIWHS204E or CPCCCM2012)
- No jewellery to be worn on hands
- Stud earrings only
- Long hair must be tied up at all times when out on the hard stand or shed
- Any other items deemed unsafe by the Trainer and Assessor
- Minimum 18 years of age

Training
Training delivered by CFMEU Education and Training consists of a structured combination of face-to-face classroom sessions, practical hands-on activities, and self-paced learning. This blended approach ensures that learners gain both the theoretical understanding and the practical skills required to perform effectively in the workplace.
The face-to-face classroom component provides opportunities for direct interaction with qualified trainers, group discussions, and collaborative learning experiences. Practical delivery takes place in simulated work environments, allowing learners to apply their knowledge and demonstrate competency using industry-standard tools, equipment, and procedures.
Self-paced learning supports these components by encouraging learners to take responsibility for their own progress through independent study. This may include reviewing learning materials, and study notes to reinforce understanding and skill development.
Assessment
Assessment consists of a comprehensive assessment process, including a Written Knowledge and Calculations Assessment to evaluate theoretical understanding, and a Practical Demonstration (Performance Assessment) to assess hands-on skills in simulated work environments.

Who should attend?
This course is for anyone operating an Elevating Work Platform (EWP) under 11 metres in length in Australia.
EWPs are used for many tasks around the workplace, from maintenance and electrical work to accessing rooftops and cleaning gutters. Therefore, anyone engaged in these forms of work can benefit from this training. Our course covers EWPs such as telescoping devices, hinged devices, articulated devices, or a combination of these used to support a platform from which personnel, equipment or materials can be elevated to perform work.

- Routinely checking elements and pre-operational checks
- Conducting risk assessment and implementing control measures

The program involves a combination of practical and theory-based learning in a face-to-face environment.
Is a boom-type EWP licence mandatory?
Under WorkSafe requirements, a person performing any work on an EWP up to or below 11m is required to hold an elevating work platform High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL).
The CPCCCM3001 – Operate Elevated Work Platforms Up to 11 Metres unit of competency is nationally accredited training accepted all across Australia.
This certification enables you to access work sites and conduct work in all states where the operation of an EWP under the length of 11m is required.
