CPCCLRG3002- Licence to Perform Rigging Intermediate Level
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform intermediate rigging work.
Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a building or structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle cranes and hoists.
This unit includes rigging work involving:
- hoists with jibs and self-climbing hoists
- cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators
- tilt slabs
- demolition of structures or plant
- multiple lifts.
Rigging work is undertaken in construction and other industries where load shifting equipment is used to move, place or secure loads.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
This unit has a pre-requisite requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level or holding a valid licence for basic rigging.
Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.

If you need to cancel your enrolment prior to the course commencing, we require at least 48 hours' notice.
If you cancel more than three enrolments within a calendar year, you will be required to contact us by phone to enrol in future courses. CFMEU Education and Training also reserves the right to apply fees for future enrolments.

- Current WorkSafe High-Risk Licence in Elevated Work Platform Above 11M (TLILIC0005)
- Current Work Safely at Heights ticket (RIIWHS204E or CPCCCM2012)
- Current WorkSafe High-Risk Licence in Rigging Basic Level (CPCCLRG3001)
- Current WorkSafe High-Risk Licence in Dogging (CPCCLDG3001)
- Photo ID
- No jewellery to be worn on hands.
- Stud earrings only
- Long hair must be tied up at all times when out on the hard stand or shed
- Any other items deemed unsafe by the Trainer and Assessor
- Minimum 18 years of age

Training
Training delivered by CFMEU Education and Training consists of a structured combination of face-to-face classroom sessions, practical hands-on activities, and self-paced learning. This blended approach ensures that learners gain both the theoretical understanding and the practical skills required to perform effectively in the workplace.
The face-to-face classroom component provides opportunities for direct interaction with qualified trainers, group discussions, and collaborative learning experiences. Practical delivery takes place in simulated work environments, allowing learners to apply their knowledge and demonstrate competency using industry-standard tools, equipment, and procedures.
Self-paced learning supports these components by encouraging learners to take responsibility for their own progress through independent study. This may include reviewing learning materials, and study notes to reinforce understanding and skill development.
Assessment
Assessment consists of a comprehensive assessment process, including a Written Knowledge and Calculations Assessment to evaluate theoretical understanding, and a Practical Demonstration (Performance Assessment) to assess hands-on skills in simulated work environments.

Who should attend?
A High-Risk Work Licence for intermediate rigging (class RI) is required by anyone who is responsible for securing materials to be moved by cranes, hoists and various other lifting equipment, most common in construction and mining industries.
This training is designed to ensure workers can:
- Understand the working load limits and capacity of the equipment
- Safely and correctly conduct operating procedures
- Checking the conditions of lifting gear for wear and tear

Is a rigging (RI) licence mandatory?
Under WorkSafe requirements, a person performing any rigging tasks beyond a basic level must hold a High-Risk Work Licence in intermediate rigging to conduct work.
The CPCCLRG3002 – Licence to Perform Rigging Intermediate Level unit of competency is nationally accredited training accepted all across Australia.
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and a High-Risk Work Licence (class RI) will be issued upon successful completion.
