CPCCLRG3001 - Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic rigging work.

Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle hoists.

This unit applies to rigging work involving:

  • Structural steel erection
  • Hoists
  • Pre-cast concrete members of a structure
  • Safety nets and static lines
  • Mast climbing work platforms
  • Perimeter safety screens and shutters
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms

Licensing/Regulatory Information

Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable WorkSafe regulations.

Entry Requirements

  • White Card – (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry)
  • Current WorkSafe High-Risk Licence in Elevated Work Platform Above 11M (TLILIC0005)
  • Current Work Safely at Heights ticket (RIIWHS204E or CPCCCM2012)
  • Current WorkSafe High-Risk Licence in Dogging (CPCCLDG3001)
  • Photo ID
  • No jewellery to be worn on hands.
  • Stud earrings only
  • Long hair must be tied up at all times when out on the hard stand or shed
  • Any other items deemed unsafe by the Trainer and Assessor

Who should attend?

A High-Risk Work Licence for basic rigging (class RB) is required by anyone responsible for securing materials to be moved by cranes, hoists and various other lifting equipment, most common in construction and mining industries.

This training is designed to ensure workers can:

  • Understand the working load limits and capacity of the equipment
  • Safely and correctly conduct operating procedures
  • Checking the conditions of lifting gear for wear and tear

Is a rigging licence mandatory?

Under WorkSafe requirements, a person performing any rigging tasks must hold a High-Risk Work Licence in basic rigging licence to conduct work.

The CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level unit of competency is nationally accredited training accepted all across Australia.

A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and a High-Risk Work Licence (class RB) will be issued upon successful completion.
