CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning, also referred to as RPL, is an experience, knowledge and skill assessment process that allows you to attain a nationally-recognised qualification or statement/s of attainment, based on skills and knowledge you will have gained through previous experience – recognised as either formal training or as informal (i.e. on the job) learning. This means that your previous work experience, knowledge and skills are formally recognised. It prevents you having to undergo training or instruction in areas that you are already familiar with or competent in.
This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
What to bring to class?
