Rigging – Basic

CPCCLRG3001 - Licence to perform rigging basic level

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic rigging work.

Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle hoists.

This unit applies to rigging work involving:

  • Structural steel erection;
  • Hoists;
  • Pre-cast concrete members of a structure;
  • Safety nets and static lines;
  • Mast climbing work platforms;
  • Perimeter safety screens and shutters;
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable WorkSafe regulations.

Pre-requisite Unit

CPCCLDG3001 Licence to perform dogging

Entry Requirements

  • White Card – (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)
  • Current WorkSafe High Risk Licence in Elevated Work Platform above 11M
  • A current Work safely at heights ticket (RIIWHS204E or CPCCCM2012)
  • Photo ID
  • No jewellery to be worn on hands.
  • Stud earring only.
  • Long hair must be tied up at all times when out on the hard stand or shed.
  • Any other items deemed unsafe by the Trainer and Assessor.

What to bring to class?

  • PPE – Hard hat, safety footwear and safety vest
  • White Card – (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)
  • A current Work safely at heights ticket (RIIWHS204E or CPCCCM2012)
  • Current WorkSafe High Risk Licence in Dogging
  • Photo ID
