CPCCDE3028 – Remove non-friable asbestos
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to remove non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM).
It includes preparing, containing and removing non-friable ACM, and knowledge of decontamination and disposal requirements.
Site location can be a real workplace or simulated environment that may include domestic or commercial premises, a demolition site, a new worksite or an existing structure being renovated, extended, restored or maintained.
Project sites for removal of non-friable asbestos include construction sites, ships and soils.
The model work health and safety (WHS) regulations and the Code of Practice: How to safely remove asbestos (2018) requires workers to hold certification for the class of licensed asbestos removal work they will be undertaking. Completion of this unit of competency is certification to undertake non-friable (Class B) removal work.
CPCCDE3029 – Remove friable asbestos 
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to remove friable asbestos containing material (ACM).

Occupational licenses are required nationally. This unit is required for all ACM removal workers engaged in the removal of friable ACM.
Candidates are advised to consult with the relevant state and territory regulatory authorities to confirm specific jurisdictional requirements to remove non-friable ACM.
If you need to cancel your enrolment prior to the course commencing, we require at least 48 hours' notice.
If you cancel more than three enrolments within a calendar year, you will be required to contact us by phone to enrol in future courses. CFMEU Education and Training also reserves the right to apply fees for future enrolments.

Training
Training delivered by CFMEU Education and Training consists of a structured combination of face-to-face classroom sessions, practical hands-on activities, and self-paced learning. This blended approach ensures that learners gain both the theoretical understanding and the practical skills required to perform effectively in the workplace.
The face-to-face classroom component provides opportunities for direct interaction with qualified trainers, group discussions, and collaborative learning experiences. Practical delivery takes place in simulated work environments, allowing learners to apply their knowledge and demonstrate competency using industry-standard tools, equipment, and procedures.
Self-paced learning supports these components by encouraging learners to take responsibility for their own progress through independent study. This may include reviewing learning materials, and study notes to reinforce understanding and skill development.
Assessment
Assessment consists of a comprehensive assessment process, including a Written Knowledge Assessment to evaluate theoretical understanding, a Practical Demonstration (Performance Assessment) to assess hands-on skills in real or simulated environments.

Who should attend?
No level of exposure is safe. The Australian government banned the material in 2003, but 98% of homes and buildings constructed before 1976 contain asbestos. Disturbing materials can release tiny fibres into the air, increasing the risk of lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.
For this reason, any persons undertaking construction work or trade work in buildings that may require the removal of asbestos should undertake this course.
An asbestos removal course gives workers and employers the knowledge and skills needed to safely remove or contain harmful material.
If you or your staff work in an environment that may include the need for asbestos removal, this training is a MUST.

Is asbestos removal training mandatory?
All workers involved in licensed asbestos removal works must be trained to undertake the asbestos removal work specific to the asbestos-containing material (ACM) that is being removed.
The CPCCDE3015 – Remove Friable Asbestos & CPCCDE3014 Remove Non-Friable Asbestos units of competency are nationally accredited training, accepted all across Australia.
This certification enables commercial operators to apply to the relevant State Authority for Class A (friable) and Class B (non-friable) asbestos removal licences.
